Collaboration Born from a Cold Message

Today, I want to discuss an interesting experience I had after the COVID lockdown. Since my office was offline and I couldn’t work with people in person, I craved collaboration as a designer. This led me to reach out to another designer on Instagram who lived in Ahmedabad.

We agreed to meet at his friend’s office, which happened to be just five minutes from my house. We connected over our shared passion for design during our meeting and became friends. He then invited me to work alongside him at his office several hours a day without any formal partnership or payment involved.

Gradually, this arrangement evolved into working together multiple days a week. By chance, they were also looking for a new location, so when they relocated their business, I joined them there.

This proved incredibly beneficial because it allowed me instant feedback on my designs from fellow creatives and taught me about running an independent freelance business. All of this came about simply by sending a cold message on social media — something that changed the course of my professional life.

We engage in various creative activities together since he lives — all thanks to taking that chance with one simple message!

So always remember: shoot your shot by reaching out; you never know what opportunities await you!
